Call me old-fashioned, a dinosaur if you will, but I write and code my own website using HTML, the native language of the internet. No sophisticated software to generate the code for me, and definitely no AI. Any bloopers are entirely down to me!

But my website has an undeniable 'je ne sais quoi' quality which many people like, including Google. For many years, I have come top if you Google: "Remedial Massage Rockingham".

I spent nearly 3 years studying. I studied Myopractic and Craniosacral Therapy in addition to a two year TAFE Diploma of Remedial Massage, a Diploma of Sports and Remedial Massage from the Barry Harwood Study Centre and further studies at the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies.

I changed career after being in pain for years, spending $thousands getting nowhere. I started going on courses, not to learn how to do it, but to seek relief from my pain. It was on a Myopractic course run by an osteopath, Neil Skilbeck, that he identified the cause of my pain and resolved the issue. I was so happy to finally get relief from the pain, I decided to walk out of a permanent well paid job to retrain to provide pain relief to others, but with a different philosophy to some of the practitioners I had been to.

I resolved to do my best to relieve pain in as few visits as possible, and for clients to walk out with a smile on their dial! And to do so at an affordable, cost-effective price which made my services accessible to as wide a range of the community as possible, and to encourage people to try Remedial Massage as their first choice for relief from aches, pains, headaches and stress.

It means that I rely on a steady stream of new clients, and the universe has been wonderful in that regard. But it is becoming increasingly difficult when there is so much fake Remedial Massage being offered, due to it not having a protected name. And some massage salons offer Health Fund rebates but do not keep records, or do proper asssessments or conduct before and after pain and mobility tests to ensure the work has been successful. There are also many others who don't have a Diploma of Remedial Massage who offer Remedial Massage simply as a marketing term to attract clients. This all distorts the public's perception of Remedial Massage, so that only the more discerning clients pick genuine practitioners of Remedial Massage.

I prefer to think of myself as simply a 'Remedial Practitioner' as I employ so many techniques, massage is just one of them! Strecthing, trigger point work are examples of other techniques that are not massage but are a vital component of what I do!

'Arthur has been supporting me with migraines for nearly 2 years, and I truly don't know what I'd do without him. From the start of my first appointment to even the most recent - Arthur will begin the session by asking how he can best help me, and what pains I'm experiencing. He'll then tailor the session to target the problem - work on the root cause, and often highlight stretches or changes that I can work on at home that'll help prevent it from flaring up again in the future. Arthur is great at explaining every step of his process - so I can understand exactly what he's doing, and exactly why it works so well!

Beware of fake Remedial Massage!

Alas, Remedial Massage is not a Protected Name. If someone claims to be a physiotherapist without being qualified, they face stiff penalties. Up to $60,000 and / or 3 years in jail. That's a reasonable deterrent. Physios need to be registered with AHPRA, the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. Unfortunately, Remedial Massage is not included. This means that anyone can claim to offer Remedial Massage, whether they are qualified and have a Diploma in Remedial Massage or they have no training at all! REAL Remedial massage means keeping records of client's appointments and the symptoms they presented with. It also means asking the right questions in an assessment, before and after tests and so on. Unfortunately, there are so many people and salons offering Remedial Massage who do not keep records or do tests, that many people have a distorted picture of Remedial Massage, which makes it difficult for practitioners who ARE qualified and follow the right procedures!
All up, whilst physios enjoy great protection, practitioners of Remedial Massage are just walked over by fake purveyors of Remedial Massage!
